Finding the correct power output proved to be tricky when it came to making the motor keyboard polyphonic due to the ohmage of the variable resistors, the voltage passing through would greatly effect the range control of the speed/pitch in the motors. I want to keep the project housed in one case. lucky for me the cassette player shell has a built in battery supply which can produce 6v. The 6v isn’t enough to create full range in polyphonic use. Also when a key is pressed the start up from lowest to the set speed takes time giving a portamento effect, which in theory is quite a pleasant effect but not when the notes out of key. I’ve decide to use a variable power supply to tune in the needed voltage to get full range of pitch and polyphony with all motors.
