Creative Sound Projects EL2 Blog 4

This audio is from me using a Korg MS-20 synth, a synth I’m confident with using as I have previously used a MS-10 and a Behringer k2 before. My main goal while using the MS-20 was to create a punchy kick sound side chaining a higher octave tone. I begun with changing VCO 1 to a saw tooth wave for the hard attack and slow release. With the modulation generator frequency set low I had a slow and stable pulse beating. Using the patch bay, I patched the modulation generator saw wave to the voltage controlled high pass filter. This would then sweep and cut-off in time with the modulation generators frequency. Additionally with the VCHF peak set to a high resonance the low frequency’s will extenuate giving a hard knock. For the gated tone VCO 2 was set to ring modulator to push through the other frequency’s and stand out. With the level of VCO 2 being quieter the VCO 1 hard knocks punched through gating VCO 2.
