ARANA part I // JNB (Jogja Noise Bombing) x NUSASONIC
In this performance, artists from two groups JNB (Yogyakarta, Indonesia) and NUSASONIC collaborate and bring their sound together. The performance shows how local music scenes join with global platforms, bringing different cultures together to create something unique that each group has a passion and understanding of.
The use of the public space while performing something so abstract and harsh really has a rebellious aspect to it, yet pushes the boundaries of the public listener’s ears.
To an average person, noise wouldn’t be considered as art or music at all, and something that would most likely be frowned upon in a public space.
The choice of surroundings and performing in a public space makes it a great way to express their art, as a passer by by you can take in what’s happening and wander past if you choose. Most people wouldn’t even think to listen to something like this on a streaming platform. Whereas witnessing the performances in a public environment gives you the option to give it a listen.
