The way we perceive time in situations is always different, the time you experience isn’t always the same as clock time. When playing a live show the performers time is different to the listeners/viewers time. The performers time will feel fast as they will be focused on performing and not making a mistake, while also the rush of adrenaline and excitement contributes to the time moving fast. I also think that when you don’t have access to a clock to view or you have no thought of time it will move faster. To the viewer of the performers time will move slower if they aren’t as engaged in the performance or just bored. But also the viewer having no such pressure to stand and watch or as they aren’t engaged in a physical activity such as performing a show, standing there gives them time for their mind to wonder and think perceiving time going slowly.
From my experience when there is a mosh pit at a show time flies by as I’m moving around and also more engaged on the beat of the music trying to mosh in time.
