My sound walk in Staines

I started this walk from Staines Moor and Ended at Penton hook lock.

The hardware I used to record this was a Pearlcorder S702 micro cassette recorder. I chose this as it records in a low fidelity format, even tho a lot of sound that are audible to me may not be on the recorder, the sounds that want to be heard will be picked up and punch through the tape hiss. This gives a sense of urgency to be heard like the every day sound we block out but some we choose to hear.

The sounds that I could hear:

trees rustling in the wind

birds tweeting

water flowing and splashing down stream

construction sites

cars honking

the engines of planes flying over head

all these sounds I heard in the middle of staines moor which is a very open and nature filled place, with a lot of distance from the town centre and roads but yet this distance does not matter as from where ever you are in nature you can still hear people living their life, technology and the world advancing.
